Lucid announces the establishment of its first Mideast
Showroom in Riyadh.
According to the Saudi Gazette
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia — On Tuesday, the US electric vehicle
(EV) behemoth Lucid Group Inc. announced the opening of its first Studio in the
Middle East, in Riyadh.
The studio, which was founded on the outskirts of the Future
Investment Initiative (FII) activities, is setting new standards with the
market's longest-range, fastest-charging electric car.
In the heart of Riyadh's Al Nakheel District, the luxury
retail space will invite customers to experience the brand and its products.
According to a direct-to-consumer model, each Lucid Studio provides a digitally
oriented premium experience tailored to each customer's preferences, whether
they visit in person, make inquiries entirely online, or combine the two According
to a press release
"The launch of our first Studio in the Middle East
marks yet another step towards Lucid's mission to inspire the adoption of
sustainable energy on a global scale, and I'm delighted this brand-new studio
is set to open here in Saudi Arabia," said Peter Rawlinson, Lucid's CEO
and CTO.
"With Saudi Vision 2030, Saudi Arabia recognizes the seismic transition toward automobile electrification and looks to the future to secure a better world for future generations."
Lucid's Riyadh Studio will allow customers to fully
experience the brand and learn about its products in a setting that emphasizes
the company's distinct design aesthetic. Exploring a Lucid Studio will give
visitors an idea of where the company gets its inspiration from the state of
California's beauty, creativity, and variety.
"We are tremendously happy to be celebrating this
milestone today; launching our Studio in Riyadh is another good step in our
journey in Saudi Arabia," said Faisal Sultan, Vice President and Managing
Director of Lucid Middle East. "Our in-depth understanding of the area and
strategic alliances enable us to produce goods customized to our Middle Eastern
client base, and we're happy to be able to address their rising demand for
electric cars in our drive to battle climate change."
Earlier this year, Lucid revealed plans for a full-scale
manufacturing facility at King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC). Lucid intends to
develop operations at KAEC for the re-assembly of Lucid Air vehicles that have
been pre-manufactured in the company's U.S. AMP-1 Manufacturing Facility in
Casa Grande, Arizona, as well as the production of entire cars in the future.
At its height, the business anticipates the KAEC factory to produce up to
155,000 automobiles per year.
Lucid signed an agreement with the Saudi government in April
2022, under which the government will acquire up to 100,000 vehicles over a
ten-year period, with an initial commitment to purchase 50,000 vehicles and an
option to purchase a further 50,000 vehicles over the same period.
Lucid Motors has begun building on its first international
electric car facility at Rabigh's KAEC. The factory will be one of three
assembly plants for the California-based electric car manufacturer, which is 61
percent controlled by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF). In March,
Lucid signed a $30 million leasing arrangement with Emaar Economic City for a
block of industrial land in KAEC.
